Marinna Guzy
Marinna Guzy is a young filmmaker. She will be a junior at Vassar College majoring
in Environmental Studies. She is interested in the world and passionate about the
production of socially conscious, narrative, and fiction films that address relevant
current issues in an entertaining and well-crafted way. After graduation from Vassar,
Marinna intends to enroll in the Director’s Guild of America Apprenticeship Program
or graduate school in film.
In the summer of 2010 Marinna founded the Corvallis Summer Film Studio for Teens.
She instructed participants in fundamental filmmaking techniques and helped them
produce two films in two weeks. The films can be seen on line now. The Film Studio
returns for the summer of 2011.
Marinna’s experience and education in film include the production of public service
announcements and promotional films for local organizations and businesses. She
completed college-level coursework in film theory and screenwriting. She completed
two terms of hands-on practice and study at the School Of Cinema And Performing
Arts (SOCAPA); the first in Los Angeles and the second in New York, where she gained
expertise with professional equipment, software, and aspiring young actors.
Marinna developed expertise as a teacher while serving as a 4H camp counselor for
week long overnight camps for elementary children and teenagers in Oregon, for a
number of years.
